Who are you?
My name is David Gabel. I'm 28 years old, a proud resident of the Great State of New York, and an avid writer. I grew up in a military family, my favorite line I say when I meet new people is that "I didn't live anywhere for longer than three years from the moment I was born." Having the freedom to travel and see the world as part of my family's work offered me great opportunities, from making all kinds of international friends to seeing more of the world than many of my peers have. This fascination with people, cultures and societies drives my passion for the arts, for the creations of the people of this world. And I often have thoughts about those topics, so I decided to start a blog.
Why start a blog?
I love to engage in culture. As being part of the generation raised on the internet, it's been the primary vehicle of discovery and discussion throughout my life. Unfortunately, most websites set up to provide forum spaces for those discussions and conversations are run by companies that monetize their users, which include selling their data to advertisers. And their algorithms are built upon keeping you engaged, no matter how bad the end result for your mental health may be. This is my way to still share my thoughts while circumventing that arrangement. The goal for myself is to publish one item a day. Long, short, sophisticated or nonsensical, as long as I publish something between 12:01 a.m - 11:59 p.m. of that day, I'll be satisfied. Thanks for stopping by, I hope you enjoy!
